"Tree of Life" is a mosaic wall hanging that celebrates New Mexico's natural and native presence.
An apricot tree grows out of a Zuñi pot, in the style of a traditional Tree of Life weaving. Fifteen different birds are shown: red-tail hawk, whooping crane, sandhill crane, vireo, great Northern owl, cedar waxwing, flicker, oriole, nuthatch, mountain bluebird, swallow, hummingbird, robin, sparrow, magpie, and roadrunner.
Petroglyphs surround the central motif (from top center clockwise): parrot, phosphenes, thunderbird, sun, dragonfly,supernova, mirror image, rainbow, humanity, water gourd or spectacle, butterfly, corn, emergence, pregnancy, bird, friendship or water, rain, bear, flight, fish, skate, crane, coyote, feather, butterflies, location of water, squash, facing birds, sun, rain and thunder, bear or strength, rain or squash or life, squash blossom.
In the bottom section, a milk snake eludes a roadrunner in a landscape of prickly pear and claret-cup hedgehog cactus.

Fabricated on furniture-grade plywood with a French mount. approx. 64 x 36".
